Atari's final console and its last stand — marketed as the world's first '64-bit' system, difficult to program, and dead within three years. As with the Virtual Boy, the brevity is the appeal: the official cartridge library is tiny (around 50 titles), which makes a complete set a defined, attainable-yet-tough collecting goal rather than an open pursuit. The rarities sit at two poles — the handful of late cartridge releases that printed in tiny numbers, and the even scarcer Jaguar CD add-on library. A cult platform whose failure is precisely why its small library is so completist-friendly and its late releases so prized.

BATTLESPHERE

The platform's white whale. An independently-produced space-combat game released in a tiny run years after Atari abandoned the hardware — surviving copies are counted in the low hundreds and the 'Gold' revision lower still. The Jaguar grail and a fixture of rarest-games lists.

The platform's best game and the one most worth owning — Jeff Minter's hypnotic, neon reinvention of the Atari arcade classic, widely held as the Jaguar's only essential title. The cornerstone of any Jaguar collection.

RAYMAN

Ubisoft's debut platformer began life as a Jaguar game — the original release of a character who went on to a thirty-year career. A beloved title and a meaningful piece of platforming history on an unlikely host.
