A technically superb handheld that never found a mass audience — and whose collecting market is shaped entirely by that failure. With a small install base, the Vita's physical print runs were modest, and as Sony stepped back, boutique publishers (Limited Run Games and others) kept the platform alive with deliberately small physical editions of otherwise-digital games. The result is a recent platform that is already deeply collectible: late and limited physical releases that sold in the hundreds or low thousands, a strong JRPG and visual-novel library, and a closed storefront that pushed value onto the surviving physical cards. The collectible Vita is a world of small numbers, where edition and print run, not age, set the grails.
