Where the home medium began.

Founded 1972 by Nolan Bushnell. Defined the first home video game generation (Pong, the 2600) and then the post-crash collapse (1983). Subsequent platforms — 5200, 7800, Lynx, Jaguar — failed to recover the market share. Atari as a hardware-maker ended in 1996; the brand persists as a third-party label, but the collectible-first era is enclosed.
