NEC

The HuCard depth — 1987 to 1998.

Tokyo. NEC Home Electronics. PC Engine launched 1987 in Japan, TurboGrafx-16 in 1989 in the US — same silicon, different bodies, two of the deepest niche-collector libraries in vintage gaming. Three platforms: the HuCard 8/16-bit hybrid, the CD-ROM2 add-on (first console CD-ROM peripheral, three years before the Sega CD), and the 1994 PC-FX that arrived after the PlayStation had already won.
