Sega

The outsider's house — five generations, 1983 to 2001.

Tokyo. Founded 1960. SG-1000 launched the same day as the Famicom in July 1983; Dreamcast ended the hardware era in 2001 after five generations of distinct platform culture. Sega left console-making but persists as third-party publisher. The Saturn and Dreamcast libraries are some of the deepest collector veins in vintage gaming — particularly the NTSC-J Saturn shooter and fighting-game canon.
