Itoi's 1995 SNES masterpiece — a funny, melancholy RPG set in a slightly-wrong modern America — sold poorly, not helped by Nintendo's snide 'this game stinks!' marketing, and was nearly forgotten before the internet made it a cult landmark and one of the most influential RPGs ever made. The flop is the whole collecting story: survivors are scarce, and a sealed copy clears €7,000.
