Sega's JRPG canon — and the seed of the MMO console era.
Phantasy Star (1987 Master System) was the first SF-themed JRPG and one of the earliest with female protagonists. PS II (1989) and PS IV (1993) anchor the Genesis era; Phantasy Star Online (2000 Dreamcast) was console's first major online RPG and reshaped the platform's late-cycle library. Sealed Genesis PS IV NTSC-U is a structurally scarce 16-bit JRPG collectible.
